Local Area Move-On Procedure
Our Commitment
At River Network Housing, we believe in you and your future as you embark on your journey towards independent living. Our goal is to support you every step of the way. We are not rushing you out and on, but only when you are ready.
Register on DDDC Housing Options
- Visit the DDDC Housing Options website: [Register Here](https://www.home-options.org/register/
2. Complete the registration process.
Step 3 : Start Bidding
– Once registered, you can begin bidding on available properties.
– After you have submitted all the necessary information, you will receive notification that your application is ‘live’.
- Bidding means expressing your interest in a property; no money is involved in this process.
Shortlisting and Offers
– After bidding, you may be shortlisted for a property. Please note that being shortlisted does NOT guarantee an offer. There are still many more people in need of housing than there are vacant properties, and some properties receive over a hundred bids.
- If you receive an offer, it will be communicated to you in writing.
- There may also be an interview with Platform Housing to further assess your suitability for the property, even after an offer is made. We have been through this process and supported others in their interviews and are here to support you as well.
#### Understanding the Bidding Process
– At the end of the bidding cycle, properties are typically offered to the highest priority band applicant or to the one who has been in that band the longest if there are multiple applicants. The most suitably evidenced candidates for independent living will also be considered.
– After approximately nine months with us, you may have the opportunity to bid in a higher priority band, provided you demonstrate your capability for independent living.
- RIVER NETWORK is NOT involved in any decision making process for any offers. This is solely the responsibility of yourself and the decision makers at Platform Housing and DDDC.
Step 4: Completing the Ready to Move Form
Completing the “Ready to Move” form is essential for assessing your readiness for independent living. This form, completed by River Network Housing, will gather important information, including:
– Your financial status of any rent arrears or agreements.
- Your ability to live independently, including skills such as budgeting, cooking, maintaining cleanliness, and gardening.
– Your residency history and behaviour (e.g., any instances of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), warnings, or eviction notices). Even if you have, it’s even more essential to build some consistency in your move on credibility. How ? See below.
Importance of Support and Skills Development
– It is essential to stay engaged with your support and move-on plans. This will involve:
– Life skills training.
– Housekeeping training.
– Regular cleaning sessions for your room and communal areas.
– Participating in social events to demonstrate your ability to relate, socialise, and live within a community.
– Stay engaged with your support and move on plan.
– Consider any additional support you may receive from agencies, doctors, or other sources.
– Familiarise yourself with local amenities and get involved with social and community groups, volunteering, training courses, clubs, gyms, etc.
