Therapeutic Community Allotment for Growing Fruit, Vegetables and People

We are pleased to confirm that River Network are pioneering a new Therapeutic Community Allotment. A really impressive amazing plot of land with a summer house, insect hotel, four raised growing beds and as many herb gardens with an apple tree and orchard.

It is such a joy to continue to build strategic partnerships that are really helping individuals find a sense of community, purpose and achievement, all within the wider Derbyshire strategy.

Terry Eckersley CEO

In partnership with the Rufford Close Allotments in Chesterfield we have already prepared and filled one of the raised beds with carrots, lettuce, spring onions and coloured beetroot. We have another four raised beds to prepare, plant, water and grow.
Many people have been feeling lonely and isolated and this community project will help bring community and cohesion. We can then also seek to build with the community.

I am really pleased to be part of this project and am looking forward to seeing the final result. This will help build community relationships and become a source of connection, friendship and therapeutic community. This is all whilst remaining greener and growing delicious produce for the participants and community.
